Heat Treatment

TC4 titanium alloy was treated with different heat treatment processes, and the metallographic microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy after different processes were observed and analyzed. Through tensile and oscillometric impact tests, the effects of solution treatment and aging treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties and impact toughness of TC4 titanium alloy were analyzed and studied. The results show that the microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy after solid solution aging is composed of β matrix and precipitated α phase, and the microstructure of lamellar β phase and small needle-plexus α phase can obtain higher comprehensive properties. Fracture ESEM analysis shows that the fracture is characterized by dimple-like transgranular ductile fracture.

C4 alloy is a medium strength α-β type two-phase titanium alloy containing 6% α stable element AI and 4% β stable element V. The alloy has excellent comprehensive properties and has gained the widest application in the aviation and aerospace industry. The long-term working temperature of the alloy can reach 400°C. In the aviation industry, it is mainly used to manufacture fans and compressor discs and blades of engines, as well as important load-bearing components such as beams, joints and bulkheads in aircraft structures.

The main semi-finished products of TC4 titanium alloy are bars, forgings, thick plates, thin plates, profiles and wires. The alloy is mainly used in the annealed state, and it can also be strengthened by solution aging treatment, but the hardened cross section generally does not exceed 25mm.

The alloy has good technological plasticity and superplasticity, and is suitable for various pressure forming. The alloy can also be welded and machined in various ways.
