Heat treatment:

The melting point of titanium is 1668 °C, which is slightly higher than that of iron and nickel, and more than 1000 °C higher than the melting point of aluminum and magnesium. Therefore, as a light metal structural material, titanium alloy has much better thermal strength than aluminum and magnesium alloys, and the maximum service temperature can reach 600 °C.

Titanium has an allotropic crystal structure. Above 885°C, it is the β phase of the close-packed hexagonal lattice, and the following is the α phase of the body-centered cubic lattice. Therefore, after adding different alloying elements, titanium alloys can be divided into three categories: α-, β- and α+β. The allotropy of titanium makes it possible to obtain alloys with different properties and a large heat treatment effect when different alloying elements are added.
