Titanium Gr5 Alloy Large Diameter Short Size Titanium Rods For Industrial Field
Titanium alloys are alloys that contain a mixture of titanium and other chemical elements. Such alloys have very high tensile strength and toughness (even at extreme temperatures). They are low density so relatively light in weight, have extraordinary corrosion resistance and a low thermal expansion coefficient, which means they can withstand extreme temperatures. However, the high cost of both raw materials and processing limit their use to military applications, aircraft, spacecraft, bicycles, medical devices, jewelry, highly stressed components such as connecting rods on expensive sports cars and some premium sports equipment and consumer electronics.

Titanium is a light metal (4.5 g/cm 3 ), strong and resistant to corrosion. Titanium is very heat resistant, with a melting temperature of up to 1668°C; it has a higher melting point than steel. Although titanium has almost the same thermal conductivity as stainless steel, it is almost half the weight of stainless steel. Titanium is also non-toxic and non-allergenic and is often used in pierced jewelry
Ti-6Al-4V is the most widely used titanium alloy because it can be heat treated to different strength levels, is easy to weld, and is relatively easy to machine. The many uses for Ti-6Al-4V include blades and discs for aircraft turbines and compressors, rocket engine casings, marine components, steam turbine blades, structural forgings and fasteners. To improve durability, a range of thermal, mechanical, chemical, and other treatments have been developed to alter surface properties, and a wealth of data is available on their use and performance.
Titanium – Industrial Applications
Titanium is used in engine applications such as rotors, compressor blades, hydraulic system components and nacelles. Titanium 6AL-4V alloy accounts for almost 50% of all alloys used in aircraft applications.
Due to their high tensile strength to density ratio, high corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand moderately high temperatures without creeping, titanium alloys are used in aircraft, armor plating, naval ships, spacecraft, and missiles. For these applications titanium alloyed with aluminium, vanadium, and other elements is used for a variety of components including critical structural parts, fire walls, landing gear, exhaust ducts (helicopters), and hydraulic systems. In fact, about two thirds of all titanium metal produced is used in aircraft engines and frames.
